Child expert Peter Jahn calls for more parental involvement in the issue in the car: “Children have a right to personal security – even as car passengers! Modern child seats are lifesavers when properly used. Absolute musts: More time for the security! ”
The tragic accidents of the last days and weeks have clearly demonstrated, unfortunately: The life of the youngest car passengers, all too often hangs by a thread. This silk thread is a perfectly appropriate and used properly seat. If this valuable safety reserve remains unused, the lives of children in acute danger: Take wrong or it is completely unsecured in the car with, they are exposed when the accident to the forces of physics.
Peter Jahn, longtime adviser to the Department of Transportation and child-even a father of three, calls for more parental involvement: “Children have the right to personal security. We adults have therefore a duty to transport them in the car as safe as possible. A child’s fundamental right of every child. Security and traffic daily show: modern child seats can save lives – but only if they are properly used.
No more defenseless in the car!
Nearly 10 percent of the children transported in cars are still totally insecure way. Two-thirds of in-service child seats are incorrectly used: too loosely fitted seats, twisted, wrong-run or loose belts, improper placement in the car – is the list of errors for use. The lives of children in the conflict case, however, much too short. Jahn: “Stop frivolous willing acceptance of risk – high time for more in terms of parental solicitude in the car! The child brings it – we use it, and always, and properly “absolute must-have, therefore, according to Jahn’s opinion, a trial assembly, under professional guidance when purchasing a child seat in the shop – and increased care in the daily use of the seat.
How much should cost certainty?
The child is the most important because only link between the child and car. Its protective potential is enormous – even at higher speeds and unfavorable impact situations a child can save lives. This is shown by the tests of automobile associations, consumer organizations and the European new car assessment program EuroNCAP.
Peter Jahn asks provocatively: “What is more important – money or your life? How much it may cost, if our children are unscathed in a traffic accident? If we would give everything we can to protect them from lifelong or even fatal accident, then we do it! “Everything” is not much: Modest four euros per month will cost high-quality child in the car – from the baby seat to the seat for up to 150 cm tall children. As fashionable clothes or electronic games during a child’s life is far more to beat book – and are of much lesser importance for the (over-) life of the child. ”
More time for safety!
